In Helsinki, a large march with around 10,000 people was organized on the international working women’s day. The march took place under the slogan ”March forward for equality” and many different forces took part in it, 120 different organizations according to the organizers.

According to the report we received, many anti-imperialists also took part with their combative slogans. They shouted, among others, ”Down with Zionism! Long live the resistance!”, ”Long live the People’s War in Peru!” ”Long live the People’s War in Turkey!”, ”Long live the People’s War in India!”, ”Long live the People’s War in the Philippines!”, ”Down with imperialism! Down with patriarchy!” and ”Women are not victims but fighters!”. During the march especially the anti-imperialist forces showed understanding that the struggle for the emancipation of women means struggle against imperialism and patriarchy and for the revolution.

In the evening Anti-imperialists – Helsinki organized an event at Stoa Square in Eastern Helsinki, where there were speeches, music, discussion and grilling and eating together, the organization reports on Instagram.

First, a speech was heard from Anti-imperialists – Helsinki, after which speeches were held by Anti-imperialists of Lumo high school and the Communist Workers’ Party. The speeches talked about for example the connection of imperialism to oppression of women, such as their inferior economic situation and anti-women ideologies, as well about women as fighters and their necessary role in the struggle against imperialism and patriarchy. The speeches also talked about how the yellow unions and the upcoming electoral farce will betray the people and especially the people’s women.

Anti-imperialists – Helsinki reports:

”Our event gathered a lot of attention from the local people and we had many interesting discussions with them. Many strongly showed their sympathy towards us and interest in our upcoming events and other work.”
